One of the top locations for tourists to visit in Santiago, Chile, would have to be the palace of La Moneda.

Built in 1784, La Moneda was originally built by the Spanish conquerors of Chile.

After the revolution and ensuring Chilean independence the La Moneda became the seat of the new governmental power, and it retains this status til the present.

Also a museum, this palace attracts hundreds of tourists every year, though reservations need to be made in advance due to the nature of the building.
